Voters asked for change and got it; quibbling about the direction is mere pedantry

The president has replaced his chief of staff within days of a midterm drubbing. The commentariat calls it deafness. I call it the most literal act of listening Washington has seen in a generation.

Everyone else: Promoting the hardliner straight after voters rejected the hard line shows the president simply is not listening.

Everyone else: Democrats' sweep of the House and Senate is a triumph for the party and a clear repudiation of Trumpism.

Being asked to form an Israeli coalition is a sentence, not a prize

The world calls the new mandate a historic blow to the incumbent. The Object Daily has read the job description and believes the blow has landed on the man who got the job.

Everyone else: Handing the mandate to Gadi Eisenkot is a historic setback for Benjamin Netanyahu and a possible turning point for Israeli politics.
